About

Curiousby default.

I'm Farhan — an Associate Software Engineer at Innovation Quotient in Colombo, and a final-year Computer Science undergraduate at IIT, studying for a BSc (Hons) awarded by the University of Westminster.

My journey into software started with a simple question — how does this actually work? — and turned into a habit of building things to find out. Java desktop apps taught me OOP and layered architecture; today I build health-tech, streaming and logistics platforms with .NET Core, React, Next.js and Azure, guided by clean architecture and domain-driven design.

I'm especially interested in where robust engineering meets machine learning. I've completed the Machine Learning Specialization from Stanford and DeepLearning.AI. For my final-year project, HelioGuard, I'm building an explainable system that forecasts solar flares.

Outside the editor I've spent years volunteering with the Leo Club, which taught me as much about leadership and teamwork as any module has. I speak English, Sinhala and Malay.

  1. Associate Software Engineer

    Jan 2026 — Present
    • Built a kids' events mobile app in Flutter for iOS and Android, plus its React admin panel and CMS.
    • Engineer scalable, maintainable and testable solutions guided by clean architecture and clean-code practices.
    • Deploy, monitor and optimise enterprise applications on Azure, AWS and Orel Cloud.
    • Design RESTful APIs, database schemas and modular components; contribute to system-design discussions.
    • Review code, debug, refactor and troubleshoot production issues with performance optimisations.
    • Work across CI/CD pipelines, version control and agile delivery with cross-functional teams.
  2. Software Engineer Intern

    May 2025 — Dec 2025
    • Helped design and implement secure APIs and database structures for client projects.
    • Built front-end modules for an HR information system (HRIS) in React and Redux.
    • Broke complex problems into manageable tasks in an agile team; took part in code reviews and daily stand-ups.

( 02 ) — The story so far

  1. 2009

First day at Asian Grammar School

Nine years in Gothatuwa that ended with O/Ls — and a growing habit of taking things apart to see how they work.

  2. 2018

    Joined the Leo Club

Member of the Leo Club of Asian Grammar School — first taste of organising people and projects for the community.

  3. 2019

    St. Benedict's College

A/Ls in the Physical Science stream: maths, physics and a lot of problem sets.

  4. 2020

Leo Club of Kottawa Central Golden City

Continued community service with the Omega club through 2021, sharpening leadership and teamwork.

  5. 2023

    Started Computer Science at IIT

BSc (Hons) at the Informatics Institute of Technology, affiliated with the University of Westminster.

  6. 2024

    Shipped my first systems

Library and Inventory Management Systems in Java, JavaFX and MySQL — where OOP and layered architecture finally clicked. Six University of Moratuwa certificates and five HackerRank badges along the way.

  7. 2025

Software Engineer Intern at Innovation Quotient

Joined IQ in May. Secure APIs, database design and React front-ends for client projects — including an HR information system.

  8. 2026

    Associate Software Engineer

Promoted in January. Now building health-tech, OTT streaming, logistics and children's-events platforms with .NET Core, React, Next.js, Flutter and Azure — while building HelioGuard, my final-year research project on explainable solar-flare forecasting. Also revamping the HDO website as a freelance project.
